Ten jobs after nursing, non-medical

Nurses do almost everything, please allow me to intro a few jobs,nurses can do after nursing. Not that Im very anti-nursing or whatso ever.

In a very ale’s point of view…

1) Administrator- labelling and printing stickers, calling doctors, running the ward, admissions, discharge, decorating the boards for christmas… Seriously, I think just handling documentation takes 80 percent of our time! Tell me, tell me what has the world come to?

2) Actors- If any famous directors ask any nurses to act emotionless, I believe they can do the job really well. They look so expressionless even after a death occurs. When I was a kid, I always look with curiousity when nurses go behind the curtains. My imagination goes wild,when I looked at their shadows reflected on the curtains. Then, when they are finished with whatever they are doing and draw the curtains, they looked blank.

3) Vampire a.k.a bloodsuckers-One patient got so annoyed with nurses. And she went like this: ”poke, poke, poke…all you know is poke me! I don’t want lah! Sop poking me lahhh. ” Man..she’s a classic

4) Translators- At least for myself, I can proudly say lift up your butt in two other language aside from english. In malay- ang kah bong gong and hokkien- kah cheng ki lai. Next to learn, learning lift up your butt in tamil.

5) Prisoner warden- Watching my patient do their business and following them wherever she goes. Not that I’m afraid they try to do to stunts to escape via that tiny wired-up windows, but rather im concern! What if I have to stay back to write incident report for you!

6) Teacher, one who is capable of teaching, biology, language, history of nursing…

7) Inventors- Do you know the mitten was invented by a cetain SSN in SGH? betcha dont know right. Maybe there will come a day, nurses invent a certain diapers that has many functions like clean patient’s butt when PU occurs. I’m certainly looking forward to the day!

8) Gossip girls-I wonder why I put this down? Is this even considered a job? From knowing the patient head to toe, most of the missie have to know the patient’s family problem inside out, not only that, know why patient fall, who made him fall or is it because he was unsteadywell if its a fall case lah. Maybe gossip girl don’t sound too nice. Nurses can be detective! But with the qualifications. Singapore mah, everything requires wen ping.

9) Professional butt cleaner!

For 10) Im looking for people who can good suggestions what nurses can be with whatever they have done or learn in the hospital. Remember they have to be non medical. So, bring forward your suggestions!
